Meet The Artist

Sherrie, her husband Eric, and daughter Chelsey currently live in West Tennessee.  Sherrie Engler was born in Western Kentucky and her love of horses began as a toddler, when her grandfather placed her on her first horse, "Woodyard" for a ride.  As most of her family can tell you, she hasn't been the same since!  According to her mother, she started drawing stick horses when she was around 3 years old, so she started her art and love of horses at an early age.

Sherrie graduated from Arkansas State University with a B.S. in Graphic Design and a minor in Equine Science. With the support of her family in 1998 Sherrie started Headed West online to show and sell her fine art prints, and the response has been tremendous.   Over 10,000 of her  prints are now in private collections, so her grandfather's last words before he passed away have been realized. Some of his last words to Sherrie were:

"People should see horses through my granddaughters eyes, its quite a sight!"

Sherrie's Books In Print

Sherrie's first book, Equine Photos & Drawings for Conformation and Anatomy (hardcover published in 1999, Equine Research Inc.), included over 200 original equine anatomy illustrations. The book is a comprehensive look at the aspects of anatomy & conformation, and how that relates to the overall health of the horse.

Seven prestigious colleges use this title as a text book to understanding equine anatomy. Already in its 3rd printing, other equine artists often refer to her book as a guide to understanding the correctness of equine anatomy.  Few equine artists are published, and those that are, find their artwork soaring in value among their collectors.   Collectors know that buying from a published artist is and investment that should continue to increase in value and demand.

As a horse owner this book will be an invaluable tool to understanding and maintaining your horse, as well as a wealth of easy to understand information relating to the conformation aspects which can be difficult to understand by most horse owners.

Sherrie also illustrated the book Adventures of Vet Practice: True Horse Stories. Travel with a vet and veterinary assistant as they treat the horses in their care. Their stories will give you great insight as to how this veterinarian treats horses—you will love this book! (This title has sold out.)

Sherrie's art has also graced the covers of numerous periodicals and magazines, including Horsemen's Corral, Mid-South Horse Review, The Equine Marketer, and Today's Horse Trader.
