Wilson's Allen
Limited Edition of 500 Signed/Numbered Prints
Wilson's Allen's blood dominated the male line of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed for 40 years after his death. Wilson's Allen was a double grandson of the first Tennessee Walking horse ever registered, Allan F-1. Wilson's Allen was foaled on Bud Messick's farm in Coffee County, Tennessee in 1914. Among his get were many famous horses including the immortal Midnight Sun.
According to history, the popularity and the conformation of the walking horse can be traced directly to Charles Brantley's family. It was on this farm in March 1903, that Allan F-1, who has come to be known as the foundation sire of the Tennessee Walking Horse, came to live.
When researching Wilson's Allen, I spoke in depth with Mr. Charles Brantley to learn how this horse actually looked. The print up for bid is a historical document of this great stallion. Unlike other artists who have portrayed this great horse, Wilson's Allen was a dark liver chestnut, not a sorrel. His tail was never set, as depicted in other artist's work. If you want an accurate and authentic portrayal of Wilson's Allen, then the print by Sherrie Engler is the historically accurate one to collect.
